Install

Install, then connect.

The first command puts Prism on this machine. The second connects every agent it finds. Quit the agent and open it again. The first time you use Prism in a repository, it builds the index on this machine.

$npm install -g @prismapp/cli
$prism install all

One agent only: prism install and its name. Add --project to write that agent’s files into this repo.

Any other MCP agent

Prism is a standard MCP server. Add this one entry to your agent’s MCP config. It starts the latest published server with npx, and turns on the receipt tool.

There are no hooks here, so nothing runs on its own. Ask the agent to call prepare_change before it edits and receipt before it says it is done.

Check it

prism doctor checks the repo, the index and each connected agent.

Update

npm install -g @prismapp/cli then prism upgrade. The first downloads the new version. The second points your agents at it. Memories, receipts, and habits stay in ~/.prism.

Remove

prism uninstall removes exactly what install wrote. Add --purge to delete Prism’s data too.
